Bahraini PM reassures job security for OFWs despite oil crisis

Ambassador Amable R. Aguiluz V, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Bahrain made a call on His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Prime Minister’s Riffa Palace, last February 10, 2016.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reassured Ambassador Aguiluz that the reported layoffs is inaccurate on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in Bahrain and that employment for Filipinos will continue to be stable despite the recent oil price crisis in the region.

The Kingdom of Bahrain remains steadfast in its policy of supporting the workforce in Bahrain being an important factor in their economy.

The Special Envoy made the same representation to His Excellency Jameel Bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labor of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The minister reiterated that there is no such truth about any massive layoffs targeting OFWs and reassured the importance of Filipino workers and their contribution to Bahrain.
