Got security concerns on the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit? Call the official Apec hotlines.

Public assistance hotlines were launched on Tuesday to accommodate reports on security threats and complaints related to the ongoing economic meetings in Metro Manila.

The hotlines numbers are: 0949 729 0082 for Smart subscribers and 0906 216 3615 for Globe subscribers.

These will be operated in a communications center manned by representatives from the Apec multi-agency security task force.

鈥淚f you see any suspicious person, suspicious activity or anything detrimental to our operations, we ask for your cooperation by calling our hotlines,鈥 Apec security spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor said in a press briefing at the Multi-Agency Coordination Center at One Espalande in Pasay City.

Mayor stressed that only valid complaints will be given proper response so that 鈥渢he attention of security forces on the ground will not be diverted to any other matters.鈥

He also urged the public not to make prank calls because concerns鈥搊nly those legitimate鈥搑eported to them will be acted upon immediately.

Media hotline

Not only the general public but also the members of the press have a hotline number dedicated for the Apec.

The security task force also put up a hotline number for media members covering the weeklong Apec activities that started on Monday.

The Apec media hotline may be reached through: 0995 459 3939

Mayor said this was to address 鈥渕iscommunication鈥 between the media and some officials that may happen during the Apec week.

鈥淭hrough the hotline, requests to take photos and videos in some Apec events may be discussed and coordinated,鈥 he added.
