LOOK: 鈥橸aya Dub鈥� as Mother Earth in Filipino climate activist’s mural in Italy
Almost a month after embarking on a 60-day “Climate Walk” from Rome to Paris, a group of Filipino and foreign climate activists has reached and left their mark in Italy — by creating a mural of Mother Earth styled after Eat Bulaga’s Maine Mendoza.
Former Climate Change Commissioner (CCC) Naderev “Yeb” Saño, one of the leaders of the Climate Walk, on Tuesday posted online a photo of him sitting in front of the mural made by his brother AG Saño.
“AG Saño does it again. A masterpiece in Galliate, Italy. The woman portrayed as Madre Della Terra looks familiar. And AG painted this in 4 degrees Celsius super cold weather,” Saño said in his Facebook post.
Tagged in the photo was Dubsmash sensation Maine Mendoza who is popularly known as “Yaya Dub” in Eat Bulaga’s hit segment “Kalyeserye.”
AG Saño used another photo of the mural, with him lying on the chairs in front of it, as his Facebook cover photo. “#yayadub as mother nature… art attack italia,” the caption read.
AG, in a text message to an Inquirer editor, said he hopes the popular love team of AlDub (actor Alden Richards and Yaya Dub) would help inform the world about the issues faced by mother nature.

Last month, the former CCC commissioner told that their group of roughly 26 people will walk from Rome to Paris to call on governments around the world to come up with a legally-binding agreement on climate change.
In Paris, the group will hold vigil as representatives of different nations negotiate on how to address climate change and reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.

Saño said the People’s Pilgrimage is composed by a core group of 21 Filipinos and five foreign participants.
They will be holding talks in the towns of Italy, Switzerland and France to discuss climate change and how it affects different parts of the world. At night they will stay in churches or will camp out.
Through their website , the group has started a crowd-funding campaign to help them and other supports to reach Paris before the negotiations start at the end of November.
“Your contribution will help us hire an organizer who can identify the safest routes for their journey through France, find speaking opportunities and coordinate media coverage, and engage with local communities and make sure every step of the pilgrimage is a chance to build our movement towards Paris. The organizer will also find accommodation with members of faith communities and the wider community, keeping expenses as low as possible,” Rev. Fletcher Harper said in a letter for the crowd-funding campaign.
The group has previously held walks in Visayas, the Pacific Islands, Australia and South Asia. CDG
