Another OFW in Saudi with MERS-CoV—DFA

MANILA, Philippines — An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia has tested positive for the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus (MERS-CoV), Radyo Inquirer 990AM reported Thursday.

The report said the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) had confirmed that a 41-year old X-ray technician was infected with MERS-CoV and had been confined at the intensive care unit of a hospital in Riyadh.

DFA spokesman Charles Jose said the OFW had direct exposure to MERS-CoV patients.

On March 6, the DFA said that three OFWs working as health care personnel in various hospitals in Saudi Arabia had tested positive for the dreaded virus.
