229 ROTC cadets in Cebu complete summer camp

A TOTAL of 229 Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets have completed the Advance Summer Camp Training spearheaded by the 7th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command based in Central Command.

The two-week summer camp training was participated by the colleges and universities in Cebu that offered Army ROTC courses, such as the Cebu Technological University (CTU) main campus and its satellite campuses in Argao, Barili, Moalboal, Danao City and Tuburan, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Talisay City College, Consolacion College and Lapu-Lapu City College.

The training started on April 18 and ended last May 2 inside the Central Command, Camp Lapu-Lapu, Lahug, Cebu City.

The highlight of the closing ceremony was the awarding of certificates and rewards to deserving cadets.

For the Advance ROTC (Military Science 41 and 42) Class 02-11, Cadet Jason John Yap of CTU-Argao and First Class Cadets Jarrumay Jaberina of Talisay City College and Lalaine Amaro of CTU Main campus received a certificate of merit each for obtaining the top three rankings respectively in a class of 72 students.

For the Military Science 3, Second Class Cadets Lucila Adlawon and John Payda of Talisay City College and Mamiel Albinto CTU Main Campus also received a certificate of merit each for also topping in a class of 157 students.

Cadets Adlawon and Payda also received Physical Proficiency awards for obtaining the highest rating in the Physical Fitness test for the female and male category respectively.

Col. Raymundo Bañares Jr., commanding officer, 7RCDG and acting commanding officer of the 701st Community Defense Center, said the summer camp training is done every summer to ROTC cadets to improve their skills and learnings on military life.
