CAMP VICENTE LIM, Philippines—A male foreigner, described only as Caucasian based on his skin color, was found dead, his body riddled with bullets, in a road tunnel in Maragondon, Cavite, on Thursday morning.

Supt. Gerardo Umayao, information officer of the Cavite police, said investigators were having a hard time identifying the foreigner since no identification card or any document was recovered from the scene.

Umayao said residents found the body around 6:30 a.m. in Kaybiang tunnel in Barangay (village) Patungan.

“He didn’t seem to be from that area. We believe he was just brought there and was finished off,” Umayao said by phone.

He said residents reported hearing four gunshots fired from the tunnel around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, after which an unknown vehicle was heard leaving the vicinity.
