3 Navy officers to participate in int’l sea exercises
MANILA, Philippines—It’s the Americans turn to host some naval exercises.
In a show of support as one of its allies, the Philippine Navy would send three officers to participate in the Rim of the Pacific Exercise, which would happen in Hawaii between June and July.
Commander Gregory Fabic, Philippine Navy Public Affairs Office Chief, said the Rimpac is the largest multinational maritime exercises that involve different naval scenarios.
“These scenarios require systems of planning from the receipt of a mission or task, to providing estimates and assessments, courses of actions and recommendations, and eventually decision-making,” Fabic said.
It was earlier reported that only two operations officers would go, instead, three would now go including a medical officer.
Fabic did not give the names of the three officers as it still needs the approval of the higher-ups.

Article continues after this advertisementWith the United States Navy’s Pacific Fleet, which has its headquarters in Pearl Harbor, they share the duties with the US Marine Corps, the US Coast Guard, and the National Guard Forces under the control of the Governor of Hawaii.
During the last Rimpac in 2012, the Philippine Navy only sent its officers as observers’ staff.
